Gubernatorial candidate Joey Gilbert announces Feb. 8 “No Mercy” presentation to “fix the CCSD situation immediately”

### “80% to 96% of Clark County students being functionally illiterate is UNACCEPTABLE! The time for parents to fight for better education is NOW!” RENO, Nev. February 1, 2022 – Nevada Gubernatorial candidate Joey Gilbert has announced a February 8 presentation at the Ahern Hotel in Las Vegas that will address the “no-longer-tolerable” failure of the Clark County School District (CCSD). Gilbert said, “The decades-long, broken condition of Nevada’s public schools is destroying our children’s futures, our state’s economy, prosperity, and creating a welfare state. Being led by the perennially failing Clark County School District, our public schools are academically dysfunctional, morally bankrupt, socially dangerous, and fiscally irresponsible.” Gilbert’s talk will offer concerned parents and community members insights, ideas, and legal actions they have never heard before, regarding the never-discussed, underlying causes of these problems, and how they can start immediately to fix them. Gilbert added, “The Smart Balance Assessment test scores of 3rd to 8th-grade students in CCSD, show that the functional illiteracy rate for Black and Latino students, respectively, is 96% and 93% in math, and 88% and 84% in English. When all CCSD students’ test scores are included, the functional illiteracy rate is still 80-88%. This means barely 2 out of every 10 CCSD students possess the literacy skills necessary to take care of their practical needs and live independently.” In conclusion, Gilbert stated, “CCSD Superintendent Jesus Jara was personally invited to attend this presentation. I offered Mr. Jara the opportunity to publicly share with the community his plans for addressing not only the lack of student learning, but also out-of-control problems with student drug abuse and violence, severe disrespect toward teachers, and absence rates of 30% or higher. Superintendent Jara refused to attend this meeting for one reason: he has no solutions. I do have solutions to offer the public, and look forward to sharing them on February 8.” Joey Gilbert’s “No Mercy For Those Responsible” presentation will be held at The Ahern Hotel on February 8 at 7:00 p.m. Seating is limited. The event Is FREE to Attend. For more information: (775) 685.8200
